Policy and guidance

5 of 25 Principle 5

Principle 5:

Establish an appropriate diversity of uses and activity after retail closing times, while enhancing the existing local evening economies.

Example actions:

Recommend that relevant policy (land use, licensing etc.) recognises the need to ensure sufficient local and cultural amenity that contributes to the evening economy.

Extend day time activities into the evening, while introducing evening uses that are distinct from the day time offer.

Incorporate additional evening services for locals and visitors (such as food, drink and toilets), to support the introduction of the Night Tube and to support the cultural and entertainment uses of neighbouring areas.
